October 05, 2009 05:59 AM PDT
Birthday Mix for y'all. I've put my deeper side aside for the moment and put togther a much more soulful mix. Some fantastic new tracks in here. Personally i'm feeling ..... err ..... well..... All of them!! But keep an ear out for "Little West 12th Street" pure class from Monique and Ralf Gum. i've dropped a few little classics in there for good measure "There 4 Me" being one, a tune that always figures when i play out: simple, perfect, short and sweet soulful house from Mark Grant and Russoul! there's a few tunes towards the end of the mix that have that deeper sound but are overlayed with superb soulful vocals to hang the whole thing together. And finally Grant Nelson twiddles his way to making "Can't make it thou another day" a sure fire dancefloor killer. Even thou the original was fantastic, Grants version just feels more of a complete package, brilliant! So, download, listen, rate, comment and most of all enjoy my latest trip to the softer side of house. tracklist:

DeanJay - July 15th '09 - Soul:Fly Deeply Uplifting

My DV.FM show from 15th July 2009 - Soul:Fly Deeply Uplifting. A bit of a diverse mix this time with deep, soulful, vocal house music from all over the planet. The UK, US, Ireland, Canada etc etc. We kick off again with Lisa Shaw's latest "Like I Want To" a very fine vocal as always with "the voice of the summer" over a 80's electronica style track which slots seemlessly into Ireland's finest, Fish Go Deep and their latest teamup with Tracey K, in my opinion "Final Tide" is their best work since the massive "Cure and the Cause" love this one. Next up is a Vancouver/London collaboration with the very cool "Valley Of The Lost Souls" a fine production and nice haunting vocals which fits very nicely into the next track and probably my favourite on this mix "Each & Every Day" is just superb. The vocals are inspired and the track is just brilliant with use of vocal reverb, old skool bass and synths and soaring strings, this is up there with "I'll be your friend" if you ask me, a track that will make you detached from everything but the sound for 6 wonderful minutes. We switch to something a little more soulful next with Joey Sivero in the Guise of Distant People and "Dress Up Your Life" a lovely slice of guitar and keyboard led Soulful House. "When You're In Love" is a lovely track from Soul Movement and give me a nice warm glow inside right now Download - Listen Loud, very loud - enjoy - comment THIS IS: (Y)OUR HOUSE DeanJay
1. Like I Want To (Original Mix) - Lisa Shaw
DeanJay - July 8th '09 - Soul:Fly Deep
July 09, 2009 02:37 AM PDT
My DV.FM show from 8th July 2009 SOUL:FLY DEEP Sessions by DeanJay I take it a little deeper this time with a journey through some of my favourite Deep, Vocal House tracks of the moment with a few classics thrown in for good measure. Jimpster's deeper version of "Let it ride" kicks things off followed by a couple quality tracks from Jellybean (Guy robin on remix duty) and Bopstar - particularly enjoying Zara MacFarlane's haunting vocals on "Desire". The next track needs no introduction "Swimming Places" will always be an absolute classic that has many good memories for me. Grant Nelson's "Brave New World" has obviously been influenced by "Swimming Places" but takes it to a higher place with typical Nelson style by use of extra keys and vocals hits, definitely a big tune for the summer. "Ready or not" is another guaranteed summer smash for Copyright and the superb Yasmeen. "Listen to the Voice" and "Let it fall" settle things down again, personally I'm really feeling the Lady Alma track, vocals and piano hits that are awash with quality (thanks to Mitch "MJB" Brady for introducing me to this one). Next up is Ralf Gum (seems to be a constant in my mixes nowadays) acid, skippy beats, stabby bass and a brilliant vocal make "Uniting Music" a must for your collection. "Inspirations" part of the Dutch Talent EP has to be one of the best deeper tunes out there right now, this will get played where ever i am for months and months to come - Brilliant. Finally we have a big slice of Smooth Deep House From Afterlife, class as usual, it appears on "Bargrooves Summer Sessions Vol. 2 " which if you are gonna buy and album this summer makes sure it's this one. remember to subscribe to this podcast on itunes (search deanjay mixes) or by using the link below, so you know exactly when the latest mixes are available. "Over the last few years, as the music has become evermore polished and well written, i've happened upon like minded people that have shared their thoughts, feelings and energy in an attempt to express what this music does for them. So many have waxed lyrical about this music recently, so many more than i've witnessed in 30 years of being a true music lover. I truly believe this is due to the fact that House music has grown up with the producers, musicians, writers, vocalists and DJ's. The production / musicality / lyrics / vocal ability / blending has become overwhelming in recent years and has driven all the participants to become greater at what they do and this has inturn pushed the boundaries even further culminating in thousands of masterpieces which should be furnishing the clubs, bars and homes of music lovers all over the planet. And that's my misssion, share this music by any means" He first learned to mix back in 1984 aged just 13 when his older brother bought a pair of 1210's. To say he loves house is a massive understatement, he lives and breathes it. Dean has played at most of London's house venues including Turnmills, Pacha, Hidden, Inigo, Indigo o2, Ministry of Sound, Bagleys, Area, Gass Club, Camden Palace, Surya. He made his Ibiza DJing Debut in 2006 -Es Paradis, Kanya, Heat Boat Party- and is currently Resident with the forward thinking guys at SOS, Marbella (www.saveoursoul.es) who recently broke barriers to bring the Soulful House vibe to the Costa Del Soul for the first time at Bono's Beach, Tibu and now the superb Koko Beach Dean will be gracing the decks in various parts of the world this year (London, Spain, Denmark, Tobago, US) so, whatever you do, make sure you witness one of his sets.
